Tanto la Tierra como la Luna son iluminadas por el Sol. Cuando hay eclipse lunar, "la Luna se mete dentro del cono de sombra de la Tierra", explicó Hernández, de Planetario de Buenos Aires.
En el país, el fenómeno tendrá su mayor intensidad a partir de las 20.21 locales y hasta las 20.58, cuando la Tierra se interponga entre el Sol y la Luna y su sombra se refleje como un gran círculo que ocultará la superficie lunar.
Aunque la Luna permanecerá oculta durante la fase culminante del fenómeno, algunos rayos solares se reflejarán sobre el satélite natural de la Tierra con un tono rojizo o amarronado, explicó desde el Planetario de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires Diego Hernández, del área de astronomía, a perfil.com.
